Ian Mack [b. England] studied painting in London.
Ian's early work utilized figurative representational realism, with an emphasis on the flattening of space — as well as the removal of traditional perspective.
Later, while living and working in Mexico, Ian discovered the vibrancy and emotional power of colour — leading Ian's work to be driven by colour. Now, purely abstract, Ian's paintings (sometimes quite immense in scale) tend to refer to smaller and smaller details that he perceives within his day-to-day life.
In 1981, Ian had permanently moved to the United States, spending twelve years in Colorado before finally moving to the East Coast. Since 1994, Ian has worked from his studios in the renowned West Chelsea Arts Building in New York.
